Born in 1858, John D. Case would grow to become known as "the tinkerer" of the Case Brothers, as was evidenced by his winning a patent for a butterfly razor design in February, 1881. He was an equally adept business man, running the Case Brothers plant in Kane, PA while building one of his own under the name "Case Manufacturing Company" in July, 1908 before starting another jobber company, "John D. Case Sons company" with sons Wyatt, Arnold Davis and Clifton. W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery purchased the business from the "Big Four" in 1911. To commemorate the contributions of John D. Case we proudly offer this Smooth Olive Green Bone Case Gunboat canoe (6394 SS) with Embellished Spear Blade and Sheepfoot and Spey Blades. The knife bears Case "Long Tail C: Serialization on the pocket end bolster and is displayed inside a wooden shadow box with supporting artwork. Production of this John D. Case Commemorative is limited to 100 sets made . As with all natural material color and texture may vary.
